Write for us

Write for usDo you write about writing, publishing or book marketing?

We mostly commission pieces for the Publishing Talk blog – but we occasionally publish pieces that are submitted to us – and we’d like to increase the diversity of voices and experiences on the blog.

If you’d like to pitch a post to us, the most imporant thing to remember is that our audience is mostly new and emerging authors. (Honestly – you wouldn’t believe the amount of pitches we get for posts about cars, fashion, insurance – or any number of off-topic topics.)

If you’d like to be considered as a Publishing Talk Contributor, here are some guidelines.

Pitch Guidelines

  1. Get in touch using our contact form. Tell us a bit about yourself, including a link to your blog or other example of your writing.
  2. Please pitch your idea to us first rather than sending in a complete article. Include a title.
  3. Your piece must be relevant to the Publishing Talk readership of new and emerging authors. This includes authors, aspiring authors and publishers. That means it should be about writing, publishing (traditional or self-publishing), or book marketing (particularly online marketing).
  4. Contributions should be original pieces for Publishing Talk. However, if your piece is used, you may reproduce it on your own blog or website one month after it is published on Publishing Talk. If you do this, please include the line: ‘This post first appeared on Publishing Talk on [date]’ with a link back.
  5. Your final piece should be roughly 500 – 800 words.
  6. Please include a short author biography (about 50-100 words) that includes your Twitter username, if you’re on Twitter. This will appear on your author page and at the end of your blog posts.
  7. Blog posts should be non-promotional, though can include a link to your own book(s). Your biography, however, may be promotional, and include a link to your own site.
  8. Contributions are unpaid, but are likely to increase your profile and the traffic back to your own website.

We look forward to hearing from you.
